Seaside Abode by Norm Architects
Coastal Cool
Norm Architects recently redesigned the interiors of a coastal home, bringing nature indoors in a style that oozes cool Scandi-charm.
Located on an unspoilt stretch of the North Zealand coast about an hour's drive from Copenhagen, the house is surrounded by stunning scenery which the owners unsurprisingly wished to incorporate into the design of the interior. The architects achieved this by introducing a restrained palette of materials and colours which mirrors the surrounding nature, thus the use of natural materials such as wood, stone and soft linens in subdued earthy hues with flashes of blue and green.
The shapes are kept simple and organic, the straight lines of the furniture softened by layers of fabric and naturalistic accessories. The latter include rustic suspension lights which could have been made from found objects on the beach and a selection of art and ceramics collected by the owners from around the world.
When blended together by the cool Nordic light streaming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, these elements create a harmonious atmosphere perfect for restoring balance and energy.

Keep the lighting discrete and subdued with the TR Bulb Frame suspension light from Menu, the Five floor light from New Works and the Chou table light from LZF.
Go for accessories in natural materials with a touch of flair, such as the Sula carafe from Incipit, the Monuments magazine holder from Menu and the Heirloom vase from Moustache.
