Urkiola Collection by Patricia Urquiola

Study of Contrasts

Urkiola Collection by Patricia Urquiola

As the rain came falling down during a recent afternoon stroll in Copenhagen, we sought refuge at the Georg Jensen shop and were delighted to come across the new Urkiola collection of tableware by Patricia Urquiola.

Perhaps inspired by the rugged and verdant mountain range of the same name, the 13-piece collection of stainless steel bowls, pitchers, vases, trays and candleholders presents a beautiful study of contrasts.  Slick mirror finish is juxtaposed against textured ribbed pattern, silver next to rose gold, subtle Art Deco references updated with Patricia Urquiola's trademark slick yet organic touch to create a very contemporary collection which respects the design language and heritage of Georg Jensen.  We especially like the large pitcher with rose gold PVD handle and unusually scoop-shaped spout which now sits proudly on the kitchen counter waiting for its first dinner party outing.

The sleek and contemporary shape of the Urkiola collection would look great with the Mathilda chair and Mafalda armchair from Moroso, both also designed by Patricia Urquiola.

Looking for lighting with a dash of Scandinavian cool?  Try the Standard pendant lamp from Menu and the Table Tower table light from Frederik Roije.

Ghidini 1961 has a long heritage of working with brass and their new collection of tableware makes a stunning design statement.  We particularly like the Here (Thimble) ice bucket and There (Push Pin) candlestick, both designed by Studio Job.
