Infinity House by Vladimir Konovalov
To Infinity and Beyond
Somewhere in the wilderness of northern Norway an architect's fantasy rural retreat takes shape in the form of a glass and concrete structure as stark and beguiling as the surrounding landscape.
Architect Vladimir Konovalov's remarkable design is structured around a minimalist concrete frame. Vast windows let in plenty of light even during the long winter months and offer uninterrupted views of the spectacular scenery outside. A sleek living area occupies half the space inside, separated from the kitchen dining area by an open book shelf with an inviting fireplace at its heart. The pièce de résistance is the spectacular barrel-bottom infinity pool on the roof top, accessed via a spiral staircase in the enclosed part of the downstairs space which also includes the bathroom.
Whether it's a long summer day or a dark star-filled night, surely this is the most stylish place to enjoy the beauty of nature.
