Meier on Rothschild Penthouse by Patricia Urquiola

Mediterranean Luxe

Meier on Rothschild Penthouse by Patricia Urquiola

Patricia Urquiola's trademark style is instantly recognisable in this elegant penthouse in a luxury residential building in Tel Aviv designed by architect Richard Meier.

Designed in conjunction with local architects Neuman Hayner and Tammy Yaniv, the interior of the 350 square metre apartment reflects Urquiola's sleek and sensitive style perfectly.  On entering the light-filled apartment our eyes are drawn immediately to the wooden floorboards with slanted joints which create interesting patterns on the floors and on one of the walls of the living area.  The colour palette is soothing and subdued.  Patterns are eschewed in favour of layers of neutrals punctuated by pops of pastel blue, turquoise and orange in a subtle reference to the Mediterranean.  The selection of contemporary-slick furniture, many designed by Urquiola herself, adds warmth and texture to the space.  Interior design of such clarity and confidence is great to see and demonstrates the uplifting quality of great design.

Product Inspiration

A great example of Patricia Urquiola's contemporary-slick style is the Gentry sofa, present also in the Meier on Rothschild penthouse.  It is complemented perfectly with the Tia Maria coffee tables.  Both are designed for Moroso.

Well chosen lights, especially when suspended from the ceiling, can create significant design impact.  Try the restrained and elegant Skylight Tower suspension light from Frederik Roije or the Spiro suspension light from LZF.

Such a refined and contemporary apartment calls for accessories which are functional and well designed, such as the Wine Breather from Menu and the Slide Serving Tray from Finell.
