Past & Future by Piet Hein Eek for Veronese
The Future is Crystal Clear
When the Paris-based Murano glass specialist Veronese decided to make use of the spare crystal ornaments which have been accumulating at the basement of their Paris showroom for over 40 years, they knew exactly who to call.
Piet Hein Eek made his name making unique furniture and accessories using found objects, especially drift wood, and is therefore the perfect designer to epcycle Veronese's treasure trove of crystal components. His solution is to create a modular glass tube with a LED light inside and a brass disc at one end. The exquisitely hand-crafted crystal ornaments, which include flowers, leaves and cups, are then attached to the brass disc to create a beautifully decorative suspension light. The modular glass tube is 40 cm long and can be attached to each other to create a spectacular chandelier. The end result is a perfect fusion of craftsmanship, luxury and poetic beauty.

Product Inspiration
Exquisite craftsmanship, clever use of colours and decorative flourishes are the hallmarks of the modern romantic style. Replicate the look with the Toadstool sofa from Missana, the Mathilda chair from Moroso and the Lake rug from Golran.

Clever lighting is the best way to create a soft, romantic atmosphere. For a chandelier which combines traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology, check out the O Mi Kami suspension light from Blackbody. The soft light from a wood veneer lamp such as the Mini Mikado from LZF also works wonders. Low lighting from table lamps such as the Core table lamp from New Works is great for creating a romantic vibe.
For accessories, look for beautifully hand-crafted objects with interesting back stories and a luxurious touch, such as the Florida bowl from Ghidini 1961, the Belle cake stand from Incipit and the Rose plate from Sena Gu.
