Great Sense of Fun
For those who think "interactive" means jabbing fingers on touchscreen devices, this pinball table designed by Soo Hyeon Goo is a useful reminder of the pleasures of actually touching and playing with different materials.
Entitled "A Sense Of", this riotously fun pinball table is part of Soo Hyeon Goo's mission to stimulate users' senses, in this case by building a two-player pinball machine with movable obstacles including bells and blocks made from different materials such as brass and rocks. Moving the different blocks to redesign the board thus becomes a key part of the game; the pleasure of touching the different materials and hearing the sounds they make as the balls strike them almost as much fun as rigging the board in your favour. We would play with this over our smartphones any day.
Soo Hyeon Goo is a graduate of the Royal College of Art (MA Design Products) and the A Sense Of pinball table is part of her graduation project.
