Nordic Edge

New Works by New Works

A new breed of Nordic brands is propelling Scandinavian design into the 21st century and Danish newcomer New Works is right at the forefront.  Under the guidance of creative director Knut Bendik Humlevik, New Works combines Nordic design heritage with cutting edge contemporary styling and a rigorous focus on materials, forms and details.

Highlights of the collection include the Rise & Shine wall mirror with its balancing act, the super sculptural Untitled concrete chair, the strong yet delicate metal and glass Florence shelves and tables as well as the Material pendant light, which comes in a range of materials from marble and oak to cork, steel and terracotta.  We also like the industrial style Gear candle holder and the stylish Covent dining chair.  Perfect for adding a touch of artistic flair to a slick and refined design scheme.

Slick Style

Product Inspiration

Inspired by the clean lines and contemporary styling of Nordic design?  Try the Laia chair from Alki, Seatshells bar stool from Frederik Roije and the Mini Clay side tables from Desalto.

Lighting with simple, sculptural shapes often make the biggest impact.  The Dancing pendant light from Menu with its origami folds, the Anfora floor lamp from LZF with its wood veneer swirls and the Table Tower table light from Frederik Roije all look outstanding.

Slick and sculptural accessories are great for adding interest to contemporary design schemes.  We love the sleek shape of the Spire wall hooks from Finell, the Machine Collection storage jars from Diesel Living and the brass plated Tip Top waste bin from Ghidini 1961.

Minimal Expressions by Niko Koronis

Detractors of minimalism often decry the cold, impersonal nature of the style. However, when executed intelligently, minimalist designs can be surprisingly expressive. The  furniture collections of designer Niko Koronis is a case in point.
