Always complaining about not having enough time? French designer Bina Baitel has designed a unique clock which encourages you to take the time to enjoy time.
The Lash clock is a large wall mounted ring with brushes around the inside rim, an intriguing object which looks like a modern art installation at first sight. Take your time, look closer and you will notice imperceptibly small movements of the brushes which create two gaps, one larger than the other, which indicate the hour and minute positions. Watching the gaps move slowly round the clock, like the eyelashes of a blinking eye, is an almost meditative experience.
It is great to see how an object as ordinary as a clock can be reinvented in such an unexpected way and to provide such a sense of wonderment.
We love quirky and unexpected combinations that bring a sense of joy. Let's start with the airplane trolley storage unit, designed and manufactured beautifully by Bordbar. It looks great next to the Bold bench from Moustache. The Robox bookshelf from Casamania is as practical as it looks menacing.
For lighting with a quirky, almost surreal edge try the Lampscapes suspension light from Frederik Roije. We also like the intriguing visual effects of the Moire wall light from New Works. Inspired by Bina Baitel's sculptural wall clock? Achieve a similar look with the magnificent Lucky Eye wall mirror OLED light from Blackbody.
Quirky accessories is a great way to add character to a design scheme. The Concrete Cloud toilet paper shelf from Lyon Beton is humorous and functional, as is the Pipe Work wall hanger from Nick Fraser and the App wall hanger from Incipit.
