Polar Desk Lamp by Ross Gardam

Melbourne-based designer Ross Gardam showcased a new collection of lamps at the Ventura / Lambrate design district at the recent Milan design week.  We were immediately drawn by the super sleek shapes and finishes, a sculptural take on the circular motif which reminds us of the Cirkel wall light by Daphna Laurens, the Elastic lights of Marta Bordes and the Superloon floor light by Jasper Morrison.

The ceramic base of the light directs the beam gently to the circular disc, which is attached to the base with a clever magnetic arm.  The face of the disc is available in multiple colours including a spectacular gold mirror finish.  Minimalist and sculptural at the same time, the Polar desk lamp makes a great mood light for contemporary design schemes.

Product Inspiration

Furniture with simple, slick shapes are great companions for sculptural lighting.  The Meduse dining table from Casamania and the Supernatural chair from Moroso would both look great with the Polar desk lamp.

For minimalist yet sculptural lighting look check out the Table Tower table light from Frederik Roije and the Nut suspension light from LZF.

Team the Polar desk lamp with the Cosmic collection of planetary plates and table accessories from Diesel Living for maximum visual impact.
