Sunny Apartment by Very Studio / Che Wang Architects
Open plan living is great for maximising space, light and circulation, as this cleverly designed apartment in the Taiwanese city of Taichung shows.
The designers at Very Studio / Che Wang architects opened up the walls and created a generous open space at the heart of the apartment. They cleverly delineated the space with a series of pentagons, which are marked by wide arches and shallow dome ceilings. This creates a sense of dynamism and fluidity as well as improving the acoustics. The white floors, walls and ceilings amplify the space and light, whilst the sleek, curvaceous furniture echo the flow within the space. Overall the effect is welcoming and uplifting, a perfect place for a modern young family to thrive.

Sleek, minimalist furniture work beautifully in open plan spaces. Try the Softer Than Steel bench from Desalto, the Florence dining table from New Works and the Yoma bed from Zeitraum.
A row of simple suspension lights such as the TR Bulb Frame from Menu and the Cellight Penta from Frederik Roije would look great above the kitchen counter or dining table. For a quirky touch try the Olo table light from Moustache.
