Ceramic Inspirations from Atelier Polyhedre

Ceramicists Baptiste Ymonet and Vincent Jousseaume have been treading the fine line between art and design with great success since they founded Atelier Polyhedre in 2007.  The duo have developed a highly sophisticated style which combines abstract forms with clean, minimalistic lines to create objects with real sculptural presence.

This distinctive approach can be seen in their latest collection of ceramic objects, including the Volcapeli collection of pelican-inspired stoneware pitchers, the Orori earthenware table lamp and the OCOCOCOC modular wall shelf.

In addition to producing in multiples, Atelier Polyhedre also creates one-off pieces and large scale installations by commission.  It is perhaps in this area where we can experience the creative genius of the pair at their best, as creations such as the Communicating Vases (three connected vessels called Abyss, Waterfall and Shower) show.

Product Inspiration

Sculptural furniture with strong shapes work wonderfully in minimalist spaces.  Try the Softer Than Steel bench and Element table from Desalto and the Fjord armchair from Moroso.

Make a graphic statement with the elegant wood veneer curls of the Swirl light from LZF.  For a touch of quirkiness go for the Lampscapes suspension light from Frederik Roije.  The Dancing pendant light from Menu has simple lines and a strong sculptural presence.

For ceramics lovers after something softer and poetic look no further than Sena Gu.  We love her Giant Cocatoo Jug, Cauliflower Container and Tree Vase.
