The phrase "bachelor's pad" often evokes images of wild party spaces full of extravagant boys' toys. This serene and orderly apartment by Odessa-based M3 Architects is anything but that, and all the better for it.
This bright and airy open plan apartment has two rectangular pillars in the middle, which the architects used to divide the room into distinct living, dining and sleeping areas. Neutral colours predominate, with layers of grey, beige and white creating a sense of comfort and serenity. In addition, the use of marble in the kitchen, bathroom and fireplace adds a touch of discrete luxury. The feeling of orderliness is enhanced with plenty of straight lines and block shaped furniture, but there is a sense of playfulness too, especially with the pebble shaped suspension lights above the kitchen counter cum dining table.
This is a well considered and elegant apartment sure to make non-bachelors green with jealousy.
Create your own haven of serenity with sleek and comfortable furniture such as the Block sofa from Missana, the Dao barstool from Coedition and the Lasai low table from Alki.
Chill out with our selection of sleek and subdued lighting, including the i-Club wall light from LZF, the JWDA Concrete lamp from Menu and the Lantern pendant light from New Works.
Simple and sculptural accessories would look great in this apartment. Try the Metrobowl from Frederik Roije, the stormproof umbrella from Senz and the Sula carafe from Incipit.

There was a time when the use of marble was largely restricted to floors, posh kitchen counters and grave statutes. And then, at some point around the mid-noughties, marble was everywhere. Could the same be happening to terrazzo?
