Light as Bubbles

Editions by Giopato & Coombes

Traditional craftsmanship and cutting edge lighting technology are the building blocks for the refined lighting collection from Anglo-Italian design duo Giopato & Coombes.  During the Milan design week they presented new iterations of the Bolle and Flauti lights, both featuring mouth-blown glass from Murano, as well as an elegant console table made of brass and marble.

The most eye-catching products were undoubtedly the soap bubble inspired Bolle lights, their delicate and sculptural glass spheres casting an ethereal light.  Both the Bolle and Flauti lights are based on the sleek Softspot LED lighting element which cleverly projects light upwards as well as downwards, providing the best illumination to showcase the captivating beauty of the glass.

Product Inspiration

The sleek, sculptural shape of the Bolle lights would go very well with the luxurious Gentry sofa from Moroso, or as a feature above a minimalist dining table such as the Helsinki table from Desalto.

Blackbody is a specialist in high-tech OLED lighting but some of their designs, such as the Bel Mondo table light and the stunning O Mi Kami chandelier, use mouth-blown Venetian glass elements to spectacular effect.

There's nothing quite like glass to add a touch of style and elegance to the table.  Try the Wine Breather from Menu and the glasses from the Diesel Living machine collection.

Terrazzo Things from Lick My Brick
