Constant Springs Residence by Alterstudio
Through the Roof
What better way is there to embrace nature than to wrap your house around the trees? The architects at Alterstudio took this inspiration to heart and designed a house which incorporates mature oaks on the site as a key design feature.
This expansive single-storey house has a sweeping roofline which creates a curvaceous porch on one side and a sheltering roof over the deck and swimming pool on the other. This horizontal profile is punctuated by mature oaks which soar above the front of the house. One of them is incorporated into the decked porch, rising through a hole in the roof; whilst another sits majestically in the front garden, embraced by two arms of the house. The rear of the house opens up to extensive decked terraces with a vast opening in the verandah roof, which provides both shelter and light.
The house inside is spacious yet feels intimate, with proportions optimised for harmonious family living. The extraordinarily high building standards are evident throughout, from the cedar ceiling panels which stretch uninterruptedly from indoors to outdoors to the pristine white marble counter top of the kitchen island. This is a beautiful house which strikes the perfect balance between nature and contemporary living.
The natural wood veneers of the LZF lights, such as the Air table light, are a great way to bring the outside in. We also like the acorn shaped Terho pendant from Mater and the Vaporetto table light from Moustache.
