The Lake rug, designed by Raw Edges for Golran, is a brilliantly clever design which creates an optical illusion of different colours and patterns as you move across the rug, just like the changing reflections of light and colours on a lake. This effect is achieved by varying the height of the pile to create a sawtooth profile, with different colours on the two edges. The design of the pattern is based on traditional kilim designs with a contemporary touch. This unique rug has been featured in multiple magazines and is a winner of the Wallpaper* Design Award in 2015.
The Lake rug is a great statement piece for both private and public spaces. The rug is available in other colours and also in custom sizes in addition to the versions shown here; please contact us if you would like more information.
The Lake Collection is available in 7 patterns each of which is available in multiple sizes.
Raw Edges is an exciting design collaboration between Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay, who both graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2006. Since then, they have designed products for a number of high profile furniture brands including Moroso, Cappellini and Established & Sons.
Golran was founded in 1898 in the Persian city of Mashad. Three generations later and now based in Milan, the family-run company is recognised as one of the leading rug businesses in the world with a unique combination of cultural heritage, traditional hand-crafting, technological developments and contemporary design.
