Product
The Gaulino Chair is a modern classic designed by Oscar Tusquets Blanca for BD Barcelona Design. The original Gaulino chair was designed in 1987 and is probably one of the best designs by Oscar Tusquets. Made integrally from wood and leather, its name comes from the influences that inspired the designer: Antoni Gaudí and Carlo Mollino. BD Barcelona Design re-edited it and improved it in 2010. Even though its appearance is totally artisanal, it was Oscar Tusquets' first real wooden industrial project, taking into consideration the sizes of the machines, so that they could make the turns which model the legs. The iconic Gaulino Chair has a unique classic and contemporary appeal, ideal for multiple purposes in both private and commercial spaces, from meeting rooms to formal dining rooms.
Variants
The chair is available in three finishes: Natural, Black or Coral Red. Please make your selection from the Finish option above.
Collection
The Gaulino Chair is part of the Gaulino collection of chairs and tables.
Designer
Architect and designer by profession, painter and writer by vocation, Oscar Tusquets Blanca is the prototype of the all-round artist.
Graduated as an architect in 1965 from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura in Barcelona and founding member of the disappeared Studio Per, Oscar worked with Lluís Clotet until 1984 on the great majority of his projects, which include the Casa Fullà, the Casa Regás and its belvedere, a house in Pantelleria and the restaurant La Balsa. In 1975 he executes, with his Master and best friend Salvador Dalí, the Mae West Room in the Figuera’s Teatro-Museo. After working for several years with the architect Carlos Díaz, in 1987 they formed a partnership to develop their projects in the fields of urban planning, architecture, interior design and architectural design, both in Spain and France, and also in Holland, Germany and Japan.
