Product
The Himalayan Rugs by Moroso consists of a series of rugs made using the Kilim knotting technique, featuring an unprecedented combination of materials. The blend of Allo fibre with banana conveys an irregular and artisanal effect which enhances the brightness of the nettle in juxtaposition with the roughness of the fringes made in jute yarn for the warp. A juxtaposition that surprises and, in the case of the Himalayan nettle, demonstrates the passion of the company to research and experiment with unusual natural fibres. Allo is characterised by physical and mechanical properties which make it apt for textile production, especially for the length of the fibre, which is longer than any other natural fibres available. Traditionally spun and woven to create jackets, ropes, mats, bags and blankets, the nettle fibre today represents an important rural potential income generator, especially in mountain areas. These robust and elegant rugs are suitable for use in both residential and commercial spaces.
Variants
The Himalayan Rug is available in one size only and in four colour versions: Ebony, Gold, Ice or Earth. Please make your selection in the Version option above.
Collection
The Himalayan rug is part of the Moroso Rugs Collection of marvellous rugs made using natural materials in Nepal and India, some being Kilim rugs hand knotted - the Himalayan Rugs - some others hand loomed - Matrix Rugs - or hand tufted - Sama Rugs.
