Ocean Table - Square, part of a collection which won the Design Award from Wallpaper* magazine, is a stylish and eco-friendly table originally designed by Joergen & Nanna Ditzel in 1955. The table has been re-imagined by Mater specifically to reduce ocean plastic waste.
Disused fishing nets (which would have otherwise been abandoned at sea) are recycled by a specialist workshop in Denmark into plastic pellets, which are then used as a raw material for the injection-moulded slats which make up the top of the table; a small but tangible step towards achieving multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals, including protecting "Life Below Water". In addition, the table is also designed for disassembly, making it easier for the different components to be recycled.
The Ocean Table itself is not only highly environmentally friendly, but is also light, versatile and elegant, perfect for both indoor and outdoor use at home or in public spaces.
The structure of the Ocean Table is made with gun-metal colour steel with a recycled plastic seat shell. The chair is available with the seat in black or sand. Please refer to the Mater Material Catalogue and feel free to contact us for more information on available options. The Ocean Table - Square is part of a Collection which also includes a chair and a rectangular table.
