The Mathilda bar stool, designed by Patricia Urquiola for Moroso, is a bar stool in a classic shape with very modern details. Two solid wood trestles hold the seat and support the backrest. The fluid shaped backrest and seat are padded for comfort and are upholstered with fabrics carefully selected to accentuate the contemporary look of the stool. Finally, the contrast colour bands which fix the backrest to the structure add an element of interest and bring the design right up to date.
The Mathilda bar stool works well for both public and private spaces. It is part of a collection which also includes a chair. The bar stool is available in both counter and bar heights with the frame in either solid ash or solid oak. The seat, backrest and the armrest band can be upholstered in multiple fabric options. Please see the Product Tech Sheet for more details and contact us for more information on available options and advice on fabrics.
Patricia Urquiola is one of the most influential furniture designers working today. She was born in Oviedo in Spain but now lives and works in Milan. Urquiola trained as an architect and worked with Achille Castiglioni and Piero Lissoni before starting her own studio in 2001. She has since designed numerous products for leading furniture brands including Moroso, B&B Italia, Molteni & C and Kartell. Urquiola’s designs are unconventional, emphatic and experimental; blending humanist sensibilities and technical expertise – qualities that also inform her work as an architect.
Moroso is, without doubt, one of the best furniture brands in the world. Under the creative direction of Patrizia Moroso, the brand combines its manufacturing expertise (especially in sofas and seating) with creative input from leading designers such as Patricia Urquiola, Ron Arad and Nendo to create a broad range of furniture of unmatched quality and creativity. Moroso products work well for both private and public spaces and are ideal for making a strong design statement.
