Fjord Bar Stool

The Fjord bar stool was designed by Patricia Urquiola for Moroso in 2002, since then it has become a modern classic.  The shape of the bar stool, instantly recognisable with its sinuous form, is inspired by a broken seashell well-worn by ocean waves.  The bar stool also pays homage to the timeless elegance of Scandinavian design, as the name Fjord alludes to.  The overall effect is sleek and friendly at the same time, with its organic shape drawing you into its welcoming embrace.

The Fjord bar stool is suitable for both private and public spaces and is available in both counter and bar heights in multiple finishes and fabric options.  The bar stool is part of a collection with includes armchairs, dining chairs, footstools, barstools and public seating. Please see the Product Tech Sheet for more details and contact us for more information on available options.

Patricia Urquiola is one of the most influential furniture designers working today.  She was born in Oviedo in Spain but now lives and works in Milan.  Urquiola trained as an architect and worked with Achille Castiglioni and Piero Lissoni before starting her own studio in 2001.  She has since designed numerous products for leading furniture brands including Moroso, B&B Italia, Molteni & C and Kartell. Urquiola’s designs are unconventional, emphatic and experimental; blending humanist sensibilities and technical expertise – qualities that also inform her work as an architect.

Moroso is, without doubt, one of the best furniture brands in the world.  Under the creative direction of Patrizia Moroso, the brand combines its manufacturing expertise (especially in sofas and seating) with creative input from leading designers such as Patricia Urquiola, Ron Arad and Nendo to create a broad range of furniture of unmatched quality and creativity.  Moroso products work well for both private and public spaces and are ideal for making a strong design statement.
