Created by Henri Lavallard Boget for Lyon Beton, the Hauteville concrete armchair draws inspiration from iconic mid-century design with a modern twist. Stripped to the bare essentials, naked concrete – a mix of sand, water and cement – paired with rebar legs evokes a rough, industrial vibe that provides bold contrast to the smooth, modern form. Despite the use of unconventional materials, the chair has an incredibly ergonomic and comfortable seat, while ultra-fine sanding gives it a smooth finish. Versatile enough for practically any space, this minimalist design will leave an impression everywhere it goes.
Lyon Beton specialises in designing and manufacturing concrete furniture and accessories. Fascinated by the technical and plastic possibilities of this material, Lyon Beton worked for 5 years to develop a unique type of concrete, reinforced with metal wire and fibre, specifically for the production of furniture. The end product is not only relatively light, but is also extremely hard wearing and easy to maintain; ideal for use indoors and outdoors, for both private and public spaces.
