Dolphin Place Waterfront Home, San Diego: USD 8,795,000 (GBP 6,150,000)

Glass Palace

A seaside home should be all about the sea view, which this stunning house in San Diego certainly offers with its endless floor-to-ceiling glass windows.  Behind the glassy facade lies a super modern and high-tech home, complete with iPad-controlled home automation, key-less locks and a 10-person stainless steel hot tub.

What the agent says: "Rare - warm modern luxury re-defined in this stunning oceanfront residence.  Endless unobstructed ocean-view backdrop boasting 62 feet of direct frontage.  Architectural masterpiece of glass, concrete and American Walnut ceilings and cabinetry.  An entire floor dedicated to its master suite.  Indoor / outdoor entertainers delight - 2 custom kitchens and dining areas.  Several view decks.  Superior appliances, finishes and smart home technology.  Lower floor retreat - perfect for extended family or guests."

What we love:
The elegant and understated design truly puts the ocean view in centre stage.  The extensive use of glass, stainless steel and concrete complements the minimalist architecture well whilst the use of walnut panelling and soft upholstered furniture provides warmth and comfort.

What we would do:
We would be inclined to furnish the space more sparsely to minimise distractions from the amazing sea view even more.

The Dolphin Place home is designed by Jonathan Segal and is being marketed by Pacific Sotheby's International Realty.  Prices and details correct as at 19 February 2016.
