Furniture by Frank Chou Design Studio
East Plus West
Chinese manufacturing has long been a staple of the global economy, perhaps it is time for contemporary Chinese design to take centre stage too. Amongst the new wave of Chinese designers is Frank Chou, whose designs capture the essence of contemporary western and Chinese aesthetics without any pastiche of the old Orient.
We especially like the Null table, which references the shape of antique Chinese stools whilst looking futuristic at the same time, as well as the New Design Chair, the Razorlight Chair and the Bold side table. With such great designs backed by strong manufacturing expertise, could Chinese design be about to conquer the world?
