The lobby of Hotel Hotel in Canberra has just been named World Interior of the Year 2015 at the INSIDE World Festival of Interiors in Singapore. The spectacular design by March Studio features fragments of timber suspended from the ceiling arranged to create a subtle tunnel effect which directs guests from the front entrance towards the lobby and other public spaces. The effect is visually dynamic and stunning, especially with the light casting beautiful shadows through the forest of suspended fragments. It also feels a bit like the view from your spaceship just as it is about to enter hyper-speed mode.
The hotel is located in the up-and-coming NewActon area of Canberra and has already been seen as a beacon to attract further developments in the area; a good example of the capacity for great designs to inspire.
