Jewellery artist Jantje Fleischhut has created a beguiling collection of jewellery inspired by asteroids, planets and other celestial bodies hurtling around the universe. The pieces are made of mixed materials including silver, steel, crystals and resin, put together with great sensitivity to form and colour to create highly sculptural pieces which stir the imagination.
The How Long is Now Jewellery Collection by Jantje Fleischhut is on show as part of the Design Triennial at the Cooper Hewitt, the leading museum for historic and contemporary design in the US. In this fifth edition, the Design Triennial showcases creations of 63 designers from around the world in an exploration of 7 notions of beauty: extravagant, intricate, ethereal, transgressive, transformative, emergent, and elemental. This diversity not only reinforces the maxim that beauty is in the eye of the beholder but is also a reminder of how good design can inspire ideas, communicate stories and evoke the deep emotional responses which constitute beauty.
The Design Triennial exhibition is on display at the Cooper Hewitt Museum until 21 August 2016.

We love the Fjord armchair from Moroso, which is inspired by seashells and takes on an other-worldly form, just like the jewellery from Jantje Fleischhut. The Meduse occasional table from Casamania is inspired by jellyfish and is equally quirky and evocative.
The Vapeur table light from Moustache and the I.Rain OLED suspension light from Blackbody both bring to mind images of the skies above and would enhance the ambience your room beautifully.
For planet-inspired accessories look no further than the Cosmic plates from Diesel Living. The asteroid-shaped Baltazar from Andrej Urem also looks great and would make a wonderful gift.

When it comes to summer living, few do so as effortlessly stylishly as the Italians. Consider the Masseria Le Torri, a beautifully restored 18th century farmhouse not far from the coastal town of Polignano a Mare in Puglia.
