Not many creatives have been successful in treading the fine line between art and design, Chilean born and New York based Sebastian Errazuriz is one of them. A self styled artist, designer and activist, Errazuriz is prolific across multiple disciplines from political art to fashion and furniture design. What unites this diverse body of work is his constant questioning of perception, urging viewers to rethink existing objects differently, provoked by his humour and unexpected juxtapositions. A good example is the furniture Errazuriz has designed, which ranges from tables and shelves fashioned from fallen branches to lights constructed from taxidermy birds and kinetic cabinets with doors and shelves which move like waves. Beguiling, functional and thought-provoking.
