Want to build an interesting but ultimately pointless contraption but find Lego bricks too limiting? Itching to do something creative with household objects such as broomsticks and plungers but don't know how? David van der Stel, who has just graduated from the BA course at the Design Academy Eindhoven, has the answer. His "Hackjes" is a set of connectors and add-ons such as wheels and musical mouthpieces designed to enable you to "hack" aforementioned household objects into new, creative objects of your desire. This may not be very functional, but it certainly works well to stir up the creative juices of aspiring engineers, young and old.
