Toadstool Collection by Masquespacio
Mushrooms in Memphis
The Toadstool collection of furniture designed by Masquespacio for Missana came as a pleasant surprise, and not just because mushrooms are not in season. The playful shapes and bright colours of the sofa, table and stools reflect the influence of Memphis, whilst the clean lines and use of mixed materials such as marble and gold (very much in season) add a touch of contemporary sophistication.
Masquespacio is a Valencia-based design and marketing agency with a distinctive style. Highly graphic with references to visual culture and bold use of colour, their works come across as fresh, cheerful and energetic. A good example is the Telling Tales campaign which they art directed for lighting company LZF, where they applied a cinematic style to present the products in a series of stories, showing how they adapt to different spaces and uses.

Product Inspiration
The natural world is a rich source of inspiration for furniture designers, just look at the Baobab table from Moustache and the Seatshell chair from Frederik Roije.
Dandelion flowers inspired the design of this spectacular suspension light from LZF, whilst Seletti shows that monkeys can be light and fun.
Sena Gu is renowned for her use of vegetables as inspiration of her ceramics, especially cauliflowers; whilst the story of how coffee was discovered is told through the horn-shaped mug from Goat Story.
