A cool space often looks best in a calm, orderly interior design scheme. A good example is this sleek villa on the outskirts of Kiev, designed by architect Denis Rakaev, which uses a restrained colour palette and carefully selected design elements to create a beautifully coordinated look.
For instance, the wood used in the vaulted ceiling and floorboards are in the same caramel tone as the leather chairs throughout the house, which provide a warm contrast against the black metal frames of the shelves, window frames and light fixtures. Minimalist shapes and patterns are applied to great effect, especially the repeated use of the chevron pattern (in both wood and marble wall panelling) as well as the round mirrors and light fixtures. The sober colour palette of black, grey, white and caramel complements the key textures of wood, metal and marble well. Together, they create a mature and sophisticated atmosphere which oozes style and masculinity.
Select use of sculptural accessories such as the Echasse bowl from Menu and the Allpa vase from Moustache will add a large dose of style to any space. To replicate the chevron pattern try the Teak on Teak chevron wallpaper from NLXL.
