Tel Aviv Penthouse by Toledano Architects

Concrete and Steel

As this duplex penthouse in Tel Aviv by Toledano Architects shows, when combined with a dash of natural wood, concrete and steel can be used to create industrial-style spaces that feel warm and effortlessly cool at the same time.

We particularly like the hanging metal stairs suspended by criss-crossing metal rods, which creates a dramatic focal point linking the two floors of the apartment.  The upper floor is dominated by a long kitchen counter / dining table with a  glossy black top which extends almost to the full length of the room, offering cool contrast to the adjoining sunny terrace.  The apartment is full of clever storage and partitioning solutions which makes it a perfectly practical family home at the same time, debunking once and for all the myth that industrial-style spaces are only for bachelors.

Concrete and steel furniture make great bedfellows.  Achieve a cool industrial look by putting together the Overdyed Side Chair from Diesel Living with a concrete bistro table from Lyon Beton.

A dash of natural wood looks great against steel and concrete.  Try the Asterisco table light from LZF.  For a cooler, more techno look, go for an OLED suspension light, such as the spectacular Mini Bang from Blackbody

We love the look of glass against concrete and steel.  The W/W carafe and glasses set from Menu is practical and looks great too.  Accessorise with a Bellows sling bag from Nava and your industrial look is complete.
