Das Haus by Sebastian Herkner
Circle of Living
One of the highlights of this year's IMM Cologne furniture fair is Das Haus, the inspirational "ideal house" installation by product designer Sebastian Herkner.
The 200 square metre space is laid out in a circle with a green space in the centre and different living areas radiating off it. These zones are separated by different fabrics hanging from the ceiling, creating contrasting atmospheres in the different areas and a sense of fluidity throughout the space. We particularly like the contrast between the bright yellow fabric walls and the steel and solid wood units of the kitchen and also the quirky wall of the bathroom, which is "tiled" with scented soap.
The space is furnished throughout with a mix of Herkner's own designs and carefully selected products from other brands, all reflecting the young designer's distinctive style: functional objects in sculptural shapes with a great sensitivity for colours, materials and textures. A truly inspiring vision for an ideal home.
