For most people Scandinavian design conjures images of flat-packed furniture, pale wood and a monochrome palette. Nothing wrong with that of course, they are afterall design ingredients which introduced contemporary Scandinavian style to the masses. However, as this apartment in Stockholm designed by Note Design Studio shows, Nordic style is much more than that.
This apartment demonstrates the best of new Nordic design. It maintains the essence of Scandinavian style with its simple clean lines, minimal but not austere. Sculptural elements such as the fireplace and steel staircase are complemented by well chosen light fixtures and accessories. The colour scheme of sandy beige, apricot pink and blue-grey creates a warm, comforting atmosphere. There is not a white wall in sight and we love it.

Minimalism is about much more than empty spaces. It is the artful use of light, colour and objects to define spaces, creating an atmosphere that is warm and contemplative. The BU1H house, designed by Igor Sirotov Architects, is a great example.
