Hotel Muchele, Merano by Stephan Marx and Elke Ladurner
Much Ado About Merano
The spa resort of Merano in the South Tyrol region of Italy is a little known gem which is just about to become a lot more popular with the recent opening of the Hotel Muchele.
Designed by architects Stephan Marx and Elke Ladurner, the interior of the hotel eschews the easy stereotype of pine-clad mountain idyll and instead indulges guests with sculptural yet elegant furniture designed by a roster of leading designers including Patricia Urquiola, Doshi Levien, Alfredo Haberli and Benjamin Hubert. The end result is visually stimulating and spiritually uplifting, a perfect place to rest after a long hike (or perhaps an exhausting session at the spa).
