Lofty Example
When the opportunity arose to combine two apartments to create a 300 square metre home in the Eixample area of Barcelona, architects Serrat-Tort and interior designer Marta Castellano rose to the challenge and created a wonderful industrial style space full of rustic charm.
The designers restored the original features of the building, including the impressive barrel-vaulted ceilings, fireplaces and Greek columns, breathing a new lease of life with white paint on the walls and a wood floor in a herringbone pattern throughout. The furniture selection is simple but effective, a mix of new and vintage in a light colour palette of white, cream and dark neutrals. We particularly like the deep window alcove seating area with its pile of inviting cushions and the dramatic cloth-bound suspension lights over the dining table, which add interest and draw your eyes up to the beautiful ceiling. This is a great example of how to create a soft, romantic even, design scheme in an industrial style space.
