Plantscape by Maxim Scherbakov

Industrial Horticulture

Inspired by post-Soviet architecture, St. Petersburg-based designer Maxim Scherbakov has created a series of modular planters designed to simulate urban / industrial environments.  Made of concrete and wood, the planters have gaps, holes and hatches where the plants are expected to struggle through, just as they would in a real urban landscape.  Whether this constitutes cruelty to plants is unclear, but we certainly love the industrial look and sculptural quality of the planters.

Concrete is a great way to bring a touch of industrial style home.  We love these minimal and sculptural concrete planters from Lyon Beton.

Furniture with a monumental look goes very well with concrete.  Try the ABC bookcase from Saporiti or the Robox bookshelf from Casamania

As for lighting, the ultra smooth concrete and glass JWDA Concrete Lamp from Menu and the Asterisco Table Light from LZF would both light up and enhance an industrial style space.
