Loft Apartment by Cloud

Allure of Loft Living

The allure of loft living is easy to understand when you see homes such as this airy loft apartment designed by Cloud.  The converted industrial space boasts original features such as metal beams and columns, exposed pipes and enormous windows which bathe the open plan interior in plenty of natural light.  This is the blank canvas on which the interior designers flexed their creativity, mixing antique items with sleek contemporary furniture to create a unique look that feels intimately personal.

The apartment is peppered with well considered design touches.  The slick, clean lines of the kitchen and dining table contrast with the living area, where the sofa and cushions add a dash of colour; the artfully faded Persian rug is offset by occasional tables with bright geometric shapes and patterns whilst statement pendant lights emphasise the scale of the space by drawing your eyes up towards the soaring height of the ceiling.

It is this potential for imaginative reinvention which provides loft apartments with such enduring appeal.  Afterall, isn't this what we all want for ourselves?

A touch of concrete is a great way to create an industrial look in any space.  The concrete stool from Lyon Beton works well as an occasional table whilst the cement camera pen holder / vase from Seletti adds a quirky accent with an industrial edge.

A dash of colour in geometric patterns will set-off industrial grey brilliantly.  Try the Fishbone tables from Moroso or the Spire wall hooks in brass from Finell.

For statement lighting with a warm glow we recommend the sculptural Agatha light from LZF, which comes in multiple colours and sizes.  The clean lines and evocative shape of the Lampscapes light from Frederik Roije would also work well, especially over a dining table.

Loft living is all about expressing your creativity on a blank canvas, so don't be afraid to add your own quirky, decorative touch.  What about the organic shape and bright colour of the Baobab table from Moustache, or the wonderful Pipework candlesticks from Nick Fraser?
