Rooms by Gilles Belley
Furniture Living
Designer Gilles Belley has set out to challenge our pre-conceived ideas of functionality by designing three "systems" which merge the functions of rooms and furniture.
Area, for example, is an igloo-like structure made of book shelves which creates a sheltered space inside for reading or contemplation. Wall is a free-standing structure with a desk on one side of the wall and shelves on the other. Block is an all-encompassing living space which condenses a table, storage and a bed into a single unit by cleverly placing the bed on top of the structure.
Gilles Belley is a winner of the VIA Carte Blanche Grant. The Rooms project can be seen at the VIA Design 2016 exhibition in Paris until 4 March 2016.
