The climate in the UK is hardly conducive to pool-side living, but that didn't stop the owner of this unusual house in Suffolk from trying. The solution came up by Mikhail Riches Architects is to build a modern extension to a an old farmhouse which contains a spectacular indoor pool which forms the heart of the extended house.
The L-shaped extension grafted onto the back of the farmhouse is fully glazed, creating a light-filled double-height pool area which runs the full length of the house. The other wing contains the living areas on the ground floor and bedrooms above. The internal walls separating the pool and living areas are also made of glass, creating a harmonious fusion of light and water. With such stunning design who needs tropical sunshine?
