Split View Mountain Lodge by Reiulf Ramstad Architects
As winter advances our thoughts turn to snow and the pleasures of being ensconced in a warm, inviting mountain lodge with picture postcard views. Reiulf Ramstad Architects from Norway designed just such a lodge and the attractions are plain to see.
The main building of the lodge takes the form of an archetypal house with a pitched roof. The building then branches into two, with glass walls at the end of the extensions framing the captivating view from slightly different angles. The building is clad in timber both outside and inside, which provides a unifying theme for the whole structure. The lodge is furnished sparsely but elegantly, the built-in seating and concrete kitchen counter minimising the distraction from the views. A sense of relaxed tranquility prevails, perfect after a long day hiking in the mountains.
