CoeLux Skylights

Artificial Sun

There have been many technological advances in lighting over the past few years, from energy-saving bulbs to LEDs and now OLEDs.  Few innovations, however, are as stunningly ground-breaking as CoeLux Skylights.

CoeLux, founded by Professor Paolo Di Trapani, is a high-tech spin-off from the Insubria University at Como in Italy.  The skylight they developed uses advanced nano-technology to recreate the physical appearance of the sky and the sun from a panel which can be installed on the ceiling or on a wall.  The resulting light is so natural and the the reproduction of the sun and sky so impressively realistic that most viewers end up with muscle strains from repeated double-takes and injuries from jaws hitting the floor.  The system has great potential for use in basements as well as medical installations and should be on the wishlist of all architects and interior designers.
