There are few things as universal as the human desire to eat, preferably well. It is therefore unsurprising that food has served as a source of inspiration for artists over the centuries, from dining scenes in medieval paintings to video installations of rotting fruits by Sam Taylor-Johnson.
Henry Hargreaves and Caitlin Levin are happy to follow in this tradition. Their decade-old collaboration has led to multiple series of installations, all focused on food. These range from the conceptual (Deep Fried Gadgets which highlight the disposable nature of tech products) to the visually stunning. We especially like the Food Scans series of images, which are created by placing meticulously cut and arranged fruits and vegetables directly onto a scanner. The images are organised by month, each showcasing the seasonal produce of the particular month. The combination of highly graphic compositions with a natural colour palette results in images which are beautifully abstract and utterly delicious.

There was a time when the use of marble was largely restricted to floors, posh kitchen counters and grave statutes. And then, at some point around the mid-noughties, marble was everywhere. Could the same be happening to terrazzo?
