Giant Interactive Flower Installation in Jerusalem

Blooming Beautiful

In the UK, poppies have long been associated with remembering the war dead.  The giant interactive poppies in Vallero Square in Jerusalem, on the other hand, have far more cheerful connotations and are on a much larger scale than those worn on lapels.

Designed by Tel Aviv based HQ Architects, the installation resembles giant drooping flowers which inflate and bloom if there are passers-by underneath, thanks to motion-sensors.  The blooms also light up at night, creating a welcoming and slightly surreal beacon.  Uplifting and whimsical, the installation is sure to become the favourite landmark in the neighbourhood.
