Impulse at the Place des Festivals, Montreal
Interactive Illuminotherapie
Visitors to Montreal now have an extra reason to brave the cold and visit the Place des Festivals, at the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles in Montreal.
Impulse, created by Lateral Office, CS Design and EGP Group, is an interactive light installation which comprises 30 giant musical seasaws. These are equipped with built-in lights and speakers which are activated when visitors straddle them, setting off a harmonious and enchanting sequence of sounds and lights. Echoing the seesaws are specially commissioned video projections on the facades of nearby buildings, each accompanied by different hypnotic soundtracks. The square is turned into an illuminated playground, the visitors becoming part of the musical instrument.
Impulse is on at the Place des Festivals from 10 December 2015 to 31 January 2016.
