Poured Bowl by Troels Flensted

Pouring with Colour

One of the standout talents at the recent DMY design exhibition in Berlin is Troels Flensted from Copenhagen.  His Poured Bowl series of vessels are hand crafted using a mixture of mineral powder and acrylic polymer with the addition of a small amount of pigment which creates beautifully random swirling patterns as it sets in a mould.  As a result of this process every bowl is unique, each capturing a different moment in time frozen for posterity.  The designer has also applied the same technique to create tables with equally intriguing finishes.

Product Inspiration

A dash of colour is a sure way to add interest to a design scheme, whether in a random effect such as the Rememberme table and chair from Casamania or in an organised arrangement such as the Valentino bench from Missana.

The graceful wood veneer curls of the Swirl suspension light from LZF echoes the charm and beauty of the Pouring Bowl from Troels Flensted.  To create a more playful swirly effect try the Cape suspension light from Moustache.

The ribbon ring and spaghetti bowl from Corsi are made from colourful flexible resin which looks delightfully random and glass-like.
