Brass Ensemble by Ghidini 1961

Over the past few years designers have been delighting in pushing the creative possibilities of unusual and mixed materials - first there was copper, then marble.  Could brass be next in line to capture our imagination?  The team at Ghidini 1961 certainly thinks so.

Those in the know have long known about Ghidini Bosco, the Italian specialist in metal die-casting renowned for their manufacturing expertise, especially with brass.  The family-owned company has until now worked behind the scenes, creating custom-made products for architects, designers and artists.  They have now opened the doors of their workshop with the creation of the Ghidini 1961 brand, focusing on design-led consumer products crafted with the same passion and attention to detail.

Curated by Stefano Giovannoni, the launch collection of furniture, lighting and accessories is designed by a stellar cast of designers including the Campana Brothers, Richard Hutten, Nika Zupanc and Studio Job.  We particularly like the table, chair and table lamp designed by Nika Zupanc, their sculptural presence enhanced by the luxuriously glossy brass finish throughout; also the poetic quirkiness of the thimble wine bucket, bullet vase and push-pin candle holder from Studio Job.

The collection was launched at Spazio Rossana Orlandi in Milan during the design week, where the brass objects glittered like jewels in the dark; an enchanting start to no doubt a long love affair with designers and consumers alike.

Product Inspiration

Products made with passion and with stories to tell, like the Mathilda chair from Moroso and the Lake rug from Golran, add charm and sparkle to any space.

A touch of gold adds an extra dimension of glamour to any lighting.  Try the newly launched gold version of the Bell Mondo table light from Blackbody and the Twee T. suspension light from Casamania.

The Briston Clubmaster watch with rose gold finish would complement Ghidini 1961 well, as would the quirky Cauliflower container from Sena Gu, with its distinctive gold porcelain leaves.
