Downtown LA Loft by Patrick Tighe Architecture

Space Age Living

Regular readers of this blog may accuse us of being obsessed with industrial style loft spaces.  We plead guilty, but only to half the charge.  As this unusual industrial loft conversion in downtown Los Angeles by Patrick Tighe Architecture shows, a loft space is merely a blank canvas for any creative vision to be realised.  In this case, the vision is space-age and super-slick.

Instead of cast-iron industrial features we have a glossy white sinuous structure which snakes its way around the space, incorporating built-in seating and even a sunken bath.  Juxtaposed against this organic form is the minimal kitchen / dining counter and a work bench, all in sleek aluminium finish.  The ceiling and walls of the apartment are painted black, which highlights the sculptural shape of the units and accentuate the sense of drama.  This is a space-age living machine which truly feels out of this world.
