The Mater A New Dam Oregon - Info Rug (IR02) is a hand-tufted and screen printed rug. Mater's collection of Info Rugs consists of three different designs, each one digitalised from three images taken by photographers at the Foundation for Deep Ecology, a worldwide organisation supporting efforts to protect wilderness and wildlife. A New Dam Oregon (IR02) is inspired by an image of a thousand year old forest which was destroyed by chain-saws to make way for a new dam in Oregon.
The Info Rug is handmade using a traditional tufting technique, giving it a soft, yet dense, 16 mm thickness. The design is simple, using a calming colour palette and minimising the colour contamination in production by using un-dyed wool and very few colours to screen print the pattern, respecting the design, the craftsmanship and the environment. The Info Rug works well in both residential and public spaces, especially in hallways, receptions or lobbies, living rooms and bedrooms.
